DeSantis and Andrew Gilliam

Is there a possibility that Governor DeSantis, who seems vindictive against such soft targets as Disney and Bud Light, may have targeted Gilliam?

The Governor won by a very slim margin, and in his first term set about to marginalize the minority base, draw unfavorable district maps, and set the stage for a super majority.

Could DeSantis have overreacted to the "minority wave" set off by the two-term Obama?

Gilliam may be flawed human just as all of us are. He might have made some mistakes that could have disqualified him as a candidate or a governor.

I reiterate that there was something odd about Gilliam's candidacy even from the beginning: how could the mayor of small Florida city rise to such prominence while the once mighty Florida Democratic machine sputtered away from the Graham legacy? We know that Repub operatives ran "ghost" candidates. Did they go as far as to stack the deck in favor of a "flawed" candidate they knew they could destroy, win or lose?

Does Ron DeSantis think of himself as the ultimate Machiavell who can harness the white supremacist vote? Look at all he has done with state prosecutors, local school boards, sheriffs, mayors, commissioners, and others to squash any opposition, especially in Dem-controlled locations. And many are all in with his far-right agenda and the vindictiveness of so-called conservative values.

Susan Collins is at it again!

I may not be savvy to the political games. But the Republican from Maine seems to love to obstruct in the most curious ways. Does she still believe Donald Trump does not lie? No one knows for sure.

But she is standing in the way of appointing judges by opposing that the elected majority not be able to fill a slot on the Judiciary Committee of the Senate.

This is indeed a classic move by the minority on any committee.

But Collins, who claims that she is a moderate, contiues to toe the line for the repugnant Repubs to maintain their support of her.

Good luck, Susan, in getting those valuable RNC dollars spent in a state that accounts for 0.4 percent of the US population.

This sounds weird but... does this bucket hold water?

As I compose this April 12, 2023, the newest leak of vital top secret information and embarrassing trade secrets in that dark world are very reminiscent of two other dumps that brought great consternation to the intel world: the first is WikiLeaks where Julian Assange used a compromised asset, Bradley/Chelsea Manning, to embarrass George W. Bush for his invasion of Iraq (https://www.pbs.org/video/frontline-wikisecrets/); the second is the dump by contractor Edward Snowden, who dropped much of what he chose to expose while living in Russia (https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/documentary/united-states-of-secrets/).

The latest information drop is just another of the Putin-inspired "leaks" designed to throw the world. and those who work against Vlad pay the reputational price.

We must begin to realize that much of our "information" is disinformation which the blundering Putin and his techno-minions pour out in gallons -- our rush toward "news" in our Internet age has compromised the common sense fact checking that once too place.

Update: the Russian blogger and US Navy vet was outed yesterday, April 17, 2023. Remember what is said in the "secrets" world: there are no coincidences.
